County Call Up

Eccleshall Ladies in the mix

Five of the Eccleshall Ladies travelled to Loughborough on Sunday 15th November to play for Staffordshire in their annual Triangular Tournament. They were:

All enjoyed playing in the mixed squad that was made up of women's rugby players from Eccleshall, Stafford, Longton and Lichfield.

Staffordshire started well and won their first game against Leicester 7 - 0, this was unfortunately followed straight away by a loss toNLD by 5 tries.

Ruth Mansfield, Staffordshire Senior Women Team Manager and Captain said "County is a fantastic opportunity for talented rugby players to take that next step in their playing careers. Ladies from Eccleshall, Stafford, Longton and Lichfield combined well to produce a fantastic performance at the inter-county competition. They really are a credit to both their own clubs and the County and should be very proud of what they have achieved. As a result of their outstanding performance many of them will now be given the opportunity to go on to play at regional level this season. A very high honour in women's rugby."
