After a 6 week break Eccleshall ladies were keen to get back in to the action as they headed down the M5 to Worcester to take on Worcester II's. Worcester sit 2nd in the NC Mids1 league with Eccleshall just underneath them.
Eccleshall started brightly with some good passing moves as their backline lead by captain Amy Seabridge made significant inroads in to the Worcester defence. The Eccleshall scrum dominated the set piece with many balls taken against the head by hooker and forward of the match Vicki Hardy.
A try soon followed after good clean ruck ball the was passed out to Fly half Rachel Hodgkinson who cut through the Worcester defence to score the first try of the game. Meadhbh Westwood converted as Eccleshall took a 7-0 lead.
A lead Eccleshall were able to maintain till half time despite the home side scoring just before the break.
The second half started and Eccleshall were soon on the back foot as the Worcester forwards took the game to Eccleshall after much stout defending the early pressure told when Worcester powered over to take a well deserved try.
Eccleshall were not going to roll over as they forced their way back in to the lead with some dynamic work at the breakdown by their back row. Good ruck ball was secured followed by a moment of individual brilliance as Rachel Hodgkinson waltzed through Worcester defense to score her second try of the match putting Eccleshall back in the lead 12-10.
A lead they could not hold on to for long as the Worcester outside centre capitalised on a loose ball and ran half the length of the pitch to score what was to be the final points of the game.
The last 10 minutes saw some frantic defence from Worcester as Eccleshall threw everything at them but time ran out before Eccleshall could get over the whitewash.

Eccleshall ladies came in to Sundays game with Worcester 2s full of confidence after back to back league wins, but they were soon on the back foot as Worcester took the game to them from the kick off.
Eccleshall 's ladies defended bravely in the boggy conditions and managed to keep Worcester at bay and broke the deadlock themselves when number 8 Sabrina McGill ran the length of the pitch from her own 22 after being passed the ball swiftly from blind side wing Becky Davies.
Eccleshall were now on the front foot and quickly extended their lead with two well-worked tries scored by Winger Alex Downes with a conversion from Meadhbh Westwood. With half an hour gone Eccleshall had taken a 17-point lead.
With half time approaching Worcester fought back with 2 quick tries one of which was converted.
The second half started the same way as the first with the visitors pinning Eccleshall back in their own 22 and finally after a valiant defence by Eccleshall, Worcester scored what was to be the decisive try of the game which was converted to give the visitors a 17-19 lead.
With 10 minutes to go Eccleshall threw all but the kitchen sink at Worcester but their defence held out till the final whistle.
An entertaining game played in difficult conditions saw Eccleshall's number 7 Becky James awarded forward of the match and number 15 Meadhbh Westwood back of the match.
