Eccleshall ladies continued their good start to the season with a hard fought 10-5 victory against Witney Angels.
After more than 3 hours travelling Eccleshall ladies started slowly and soon went behind after a well worked move in the Witney midfield resulted in the home team scoring the first try of the day. Eccleshall soon fought back and after some inspirational play for their halfbacks levelled the score on the stroke of half time when full back Meadhbh Westwood crashed over for Eccleshall's first score after securing a tidy pass from Sabrina McGill.
The second half saw Eccleshall take the game to their opponents and following a period of sustained pressure, stand in scrum half Sabrina McGill pounced on a mistake by the Witney No 10 and scored what was to be the decisive try of the game. Witney came back but Eccleshall's dogged defence kept them at bay.
On the final whistle Eccleshall celebrated what had been a hard fought victory which sees the newly promoted Eccleshall Ladies sitting 3rd in their league.
